    • Tip: Add some kiwi, grapefruit, strawberries, bell pepper, broccoli, oranges, and Brussels sprouts to your menu for the week to load up on vitamin C.

    How Do You Overcome Adrenal Fatigue

    Adrenal fatigue is not a condition that you can supplement yourself out of. Supplements have their place in treating adrenal fatigue. But they wont bring about a cure on their own. The underlying or root cause needs to be identified and removed before your body will be able to recover.

    Fish Oil For Easing Mental Stress

Fish oil is anti-inflammatory and supports cell fluidity which is important for healthy communication between cells.     Adrenal Fatigue Vs Addisons Disease

    Though adrenal fatigue is not officially recognized by the mainstream medical community, there is a severe condition called Addisons disease that is a conventional diagnosis.

    Adrenal insufficiency can be primary or secondary. Addisons disease, the common term for primary adrenal insufficiency, occurs when the adrenal glands are damaged and cannot produce enough of the adrenal hormone cortisol. The adrenal hormone aldosterone may also be lacking. Addisons disease affects 110 to 144 of every 1 million people in developed countries.1

    Secondary adrenal insufficiency occurs when the pituitary glanda pea-sized gland at the base of the brainfails to produce enough adrenocorticotropin , a hormone that stimulates the adrenal glands to produce the hormone cortisol. If ACTH output is too low, cortisol production drops. Eventually, the adrenal glands can shrink due to lack of ACTH stimulation. Secondary adrenal insufficiency is much more common than Addisons disease.

    What Should You Eat If You Have Adrenal Fatigue

    I strongly recommend the paleo or keto diet to all of my patients. However, if you dont have the energy to change your diet, do this one thing:

    Eat real food.

    If your food comes in a bag or box, dont eat it. If your food doesnt rot, dont eat it. Follow this rule and youll be 80% of the way towards a diet that helps you beat adrenal fatigue.

    What is the role of the adrenals?

    The adrenals are responsible for sending the hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline into the bloodstream during times of stress. They make hormones such as DHEA and aldosterone, and they also make hormones that your body then uses to make other hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.

    The adrenals are also part of the HPA axis. The pituitary, hypothalamus, and adrenals constantly communicate with one another throughout the day. This tells the thyroid to slow down, and sometimes it can actually cause TSH to lower, causing the thyroid to produce excess thyroid hormones.

    What Is Adrenal Fatigue

    The adrenal glands, walnut-shaped organs that are found above the kidneys, are responsible for producing stress hormones such as cortisol, epinephrine and norepinephrine. When released in the right amounts, all of these hormones serve a useful purpose.

    Normally, the stress hormone cortisol is naturally high in the morning, as one of its purposes is to keep you alert. It continues to decline throughout the day and cortisol is lowest at night, when you want to wind down to sleep.

    When you have adrenal fatigue, however, the production of cortisol could be too high or too low at different times of the day. This is why many people with adrenal fatigue may feel extremely tired in the morning and wired at the end of the day and cannot fall asleep. This is because cortisol is not functioning normally. This causes a vicious cycle in which you wake up feeling tired with decreased levels of energy throughout the day.

    Pantothenic Acid For Adrenals

    Herbs and Supplements to Improve Adrenal Fatigue

    Pantothenic acid was first linked to the bodys main stress regulatory center, the hypothalamuspituitaryadrenal axis, in research released in the 1950s. Pantothenic acid helps the adrenal glands produce healthy amounts of cortisol. In rodent models, pantothenic acid deficiency leads to a decrease in the function of the adrenal cortex, the outer area of the adrenal gland. Conversely, replenishing pantothenic acid by injecting animals with pantothenic acid derivatives similar to calcium pantothenate led to an improvement in the production of cortisol and other hormones by the adrenals.

    A human study found that the use of vitamin B5 reduced the rise in urinary cortisol metabolites. This indicated that vitamin B5 can suppress the excessive secretion of cortisol that occurs during times of stress.
