Two Calming And Energy Boosting Minerals

Adrenal fatigue sufferers desperately want and need to calm down but sometimes it just seems impossible. Which makes it so frustrating. The anxiety and moodiness can be a result of calcium deficiency.

Poor eating habits, pregnancy, heavy metal toxicity, and low stomach acid are some of the reasons behind calcium deficiency.

Calcium is the one supplement I dont take. But I drink plenty of raw milk and homemade kefir.

In addition to getting enough calcium, I needed magnesium. Magnesium is an important mineral for energy production so no wonder it was essential for my adrenal fatigue recovery.

Magnesium deficiency can cause many symptoms including insomnia, anxiety, abnormal heart rhythms and muscle spasms.

I have noticed that when I dont take magnesium, I get a twitching eye lid. It goes away when I get back on the magnesium. I take magnesium supplement once or twice a day.

Daily diet and healthy life habits are other ways you can address the symptoms.

So, if you are experiencing adrenal fatigue, dont lose hope because there are several things you can try to find relief from it.

Chronic Stress Leads To Adrenal Fatigue

Gaia Herbs Adrenal Health Daily Support, Stress Relief and Adrenal ...

Stress is public enemy number one. While small amounts of stress are necessary for life and can actually help keep our immune systems sharp, as well as help keep you alive in dangerous situations, chronicstress is absolutely insidious. Unfortunately, our modern world, with all of its trappings and convenience, is also fraught with high amounts of stress. Chronic stress has been linked to almost every health condition you can think of, from headaches, migraines, digestive issues, and heart attacks all the way to adrenal fatigue, insomnia, advanced aging, and a plethora of autoimmune diseases.

Who Should Consider Taking An Adrenal Support Supplement

Adrenal fatigue can cause a deficiency in necessary hormones in the body, but it can also deplete your body of necessary nutrients. When you are feeling tired and stressed, your body probably isnt functioning very efficiently. You may have even gone to your doctor to have a panel of blood work performed, but your levels look normal on paper. Unfortunately, your body may be compensating in unhealthy ways in order to keep your levels up where they need to be. You may also be at the low range of certain nutrients, which might not be enough to feel your best.

You should consider taking an adrenal support supplement if youre experiencing issues such as:

    • Increased energy in the evening hours but not enough energy during the day
    • Weakened immune system
    • An increased need for caffeine and other stimulants

Luckily, there are vitamins, minerals, herbs, probiotics and other ingredients that can be used to support your adrenal function, so you feel energetic and calm throughout the day. When you use a product that includes the right concentration of these ingredients, you may be shocked to see how much better you feel. It doesnt take long for you to repair your adrenals. Just make sure that youre making appropriate lifestyle and diet changes in addition to taking an adrenal support supplement.

    Does Ashwagandha Help Adrenal Fatigue

    Direct Adrenal Support Supplements

There are two different types of adrenal supplements typically used in treating adrenal fatigueâAdrenal Glandulars and Cortisol Supplements.

    • An adrenal cortical extract, or adrenal glandular , is one of the most important supplements for poor adrenal function. Adrenal glandulars are made of adrenal cortex tissue from animal sources, and will provide actual adrenal cells and nutrients to support adrenal glands as they rebuild themselves.
    • Taking a cortisol supplement is a bit more complicated than taking an adrenal glandular, and the side effects of cortisol supplements are much more serious. Try an adrenal glandular first.

I strongly recommend the paleo or keto diet to all of my patients. However, if you dont have the energy to change your diet, do this one thing:

    Eat real food.

If your food comes in a bag or box, dont eat it. If your food doesnt rot, dont eat it. Follow this rule and youll be 80% of the way towards a diet that helps you beat adrenal fatigue.

Now, if youre eating real food and it doesnt seem to help your energy levels, check out my digital course Stop Feeding Fatigue. Vitamin C Replenishes Adrenal Function

The adrenal glands are rich in vitamin C which is used to produce all the adrenal hormones, most importantly cortisol. As stress begins and continues, vitamin C is used rapidly by the adrenal glands to make cortisol. As vitamin C is depleted, adrenal function declines and the only way to replenish these stores is to eat a diet rich in vitamin C and to supplement. In times of adrenal fatigue, getting a therapeutic level of vitamin C is usually necessary and this would be time for supplementation.

The dosage of vitamin C is to bowel tolerance, so start with 100 mg/day and work your way up to the dosage where you bowel moves.

    Adrenal Glands And Stress

Your adrenal glands release hormones right into your bloodstream. Many of the hormones produced by the adrenal glands are connected to the bodys response to various stressors. These stressors can be physical, biochemical, hormonal, emotional, mental the list goes on. The point is that your body produces hormones that help these stressors.

Heres how this works. Your adrenal glands produce these hormones in response to signals from the brain specifically, the hypothalamus sends a signal to the pituitary gland, which then sends a signal to the adrenal glands to produce the needed hormones.

Your adrenal glands produce cortisol, which is sometimes referred to as the stress hormone. Cortisol serves many important functions for your health and has effects on the immune system, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and more. But it earns its distinction as the stress hormone from the way it manages your bodys response to stress. However, if cortisol levels remain too high for too long, that can lead to stress becoming an issue.

    What Supplements Help Adrenal Fatigue

There are several categories of supplements that can help to treat adrenal fatigue. They should be used in combination with lifestyle changes like avoiding stress, improving diet, and getting more sleep.

There are a few basic nutrients that are particularly important for supporting the adrenal glands and HPA axis, especially during times of stress. These include vitamins B5, B6, and B12, vitamin C, and magnesium. Omega-3 fatty acids, CoQ10, and probiotics can also be tremendously supportive during this time.

Herbal supplements can be useful for regulating cortisol levels and moderating the stress response. These include ashwagandha, licorice, Rhodiola rosea, Siberian ginseng, and maca.

For the best results, discuss your supplementation with your healthcare professional. Here is some more information on supplements for adrenal fatigue.

    How To Treat Adrenal Fatigue

So many people suffer from adrenal fatigue! The three basic tenets involved in healing our adrenals are:

    • Diet and healthy lifestyle changes
    • Proper supplementation to give our adrenals the nutrients they need to function properly
    • Detoxification of heavy metals

Most people are gluten-sensitive, so a gluten-free diet is best. Gluten increases inflammation and weakens our immune response, leading to leaky gut. Because there is a close link between gluten sensitivity and dairy sensitivity, many people need to remove dairy products as well, especially pasteurized dairy. Sugar, alcohol, and caffeine all drive the adrenals to produce more cortisol in the short term, but deplete the adrenal glands in the long term. Finally, having a nutrient-rich diet full of green leafy vegetables and healthy fats support the adrenal glands ability to function properly.

The 3 Best Supplements For Adrenal Fatigue

In my naturopathic practice, I treat fatigue on a very regular basis. No one likes to feel tired and out of commission, and often a month-long adrenal program can have immense benefits in getting people up and over the hump. Here are the 3 supplements that I think really work for fatigue. Dr. Wilson was the first person to identify this combination, but in 13 years of practice using a number of different protocols, I still think its the protocol that works the best for adrenal fatigue:

The Complete Guide To Adrenal Fatigue Supplements

One of the most frequent questions AFS sufferers ask is: What adrenal fatigue supplements should I take? This is a very good question that we hear often from our nutritional coaching clients, but unfortunately, the answer is not simple.

First, if you are asking this question, you need to consider how you are expecting supplements to fit into your overall health goals. Do you only want fast relief? Does it seem easier than changing your diet? Or do you truly do have a strong foundation for recovery and supplements will just be an added support?

As you consider taking supplements, make sure that you are not taking the shotgun approach. This is by far one of the most common yet biggest mistakes we see people make in their effort to feel better faster. Its basically where you take a bunch of different supplements, without planning or research, hoping that some combination will work. This poses two problems:

  • If it does work, you will not know which supplements helped and which didnt, so you cant isolate those you need from those you dont. Youll just have to keep taking a lot of pills and herbs and hope you dont get a paradoxical reaction at some point.
  • You get worse. You end up taking supplements that put more pressure on your system, add to your toxic load, and cause sensitivities or crashes. You may feel better for a short while, but unless the root issue is addressed, the benefit is often short-lived.

Top 2 Supplements to Help with Adrenal Fatigue

You can just follow the advice at the bottom of this article , but if you want to be really sure that you have adrenal fatigue, I recommend getting a cortisol test from a functional medicine doctor.

Standard doctors often dismiss cortisol test results because they fall within the normal range of cortisol. But feeling like crap isnt normal, and you shouldnt accept it. Its similar with testosterone: 300 ng/dL is within the normal range, and so is 900 ng/dL. But if you triple your testosterone levels, I promise youll feel a lot different.

Its the same with cortisol. In the morning, normal cortisol is anywhere from 7-28 ug/dL in the afternoon, its 2-18 ug/dL.Thats a huge range, and the reason I dont suggest a standard doctor for a cortisol test. You dont want normal you want optimal.

A functional medicine doctor will look more carefully at your cortisol levels and be able to tell you if you have adrenal fatigue.

    Best Adrenal Support Supplements

Taking all six of these adrenal gland support supplements could seem a bit overwhelming. Thats why VitalNutrients conveniently bundled all six into one formula called Adrenal Support. It contains pantothenic acid, both whole adrenal bovine and adrenal cortex bovine extract, Eleuthero root, ashwagandha, and Cordyceps Sinensis mycelium extract. The synergistic combination is ideal for mild stress relief, for increased energy, and to promote a general sense of well-being.*

    Helps Restore Adrenal Function

Adrenal function will decrease the more that you deplete your body of essential nutrients. Replacing these nutrients and increasing the amounts that youre taking in can help to restore your adrenal function. The more that you tax your body and adrenals, the worse youre going to feel. Its much easier to maintain healthy adrenals than it is to repair them.

Restoring your adrenal health effectively requires an accurate diagnosis, intervention and a number of lifestyle changes. You may need to eat more frequently increase the amount of nutrients youre taking in or get more sleep at night. Supplements can be a key part of this process.

Fish Oil For Easing Mental Stress

LES Labs Cortisol Health, Adrenal Support Supplement for Stress Relief ...

Omega 3 fatty acidsresearch has shown it may help support adrenal health by easing the bodys response to mental stress. Fish oil is anti-inflammatory and supports cell fluidity which is important for healthy communication between cells. As catecholamines, cortisol, insulin, and other hormones are being overproduced during stress, cells will begin to get numb or deaf to these messages from overexposure.

As the cell becomes more resistant, the body does not respond to the messages resulting in fatigue, insulin resistance, inflammation and poor immune health. Fish oil can resensitize these receptors and support these chemical pathways in the body.

Take a high potency fish oil delivered in the natural triglyceride form. Take 800-1000 mg each of EPA and DHA. Look on the back of the label to see each of these listed out, dont pay attention to the 1000 mg listed on the front of most labels.

Only use fish oil products that are molecularly distilled and filtered to ensure purity and to maximize the removal of heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, PCBs, and other contaminants.

To make it easier for you, I have also created the Adrenal Repair Kit which consists of all the critical vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Getting the Kit will also save you 15% as compared to getting the single products.
