What You Can Do About Lower Abdominal Pain And Fatigue:

Free from stomach ache, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and adrenal fatigue

Well, the first thing you can do is avoid foods or drinks that upset your bowels. But once you have the pain, what can you do?

I cant prescribe treatment, but I can tell you what helps me. I use a heating pad and and some anti-inflammatory, like ibuprofen and it works wonders.

They dont always completely remove the pain and fatigue of an IBS attack, but they help with the pain!

Some people swear by peppermint oil which clinical studies show can soothe the bowels.

There are also some anti-spasmodic drugs that help ease cramps. You will have to talk to your doctor about those though, because they are prescription only.

IBS pain can cause fatigue, or at least it does in my world.

I hope this helps you solve your fatigue puzzle.

Treatment And Home Remedies For Abdominal Pain

How abdominal pain is treated is highly dependent on the diagnosis. Medications that reduce inflammation may help with stomach pains resulting from ulcers.

But other conditions, like kidney stones, may require more intensive treatment like shock wave lithotripsy. Inflammation of the gall bladder might require gall bladder surgery.

Your doctor might prescribe a pain-modifying drug, like amitriptyline or trazodone, to address the pain. These may help change the way the brain processes pain signals.

If you and your doctor have determined that your abdominal pain is not the result of a serious medical condition, there are a number of home health remedies that may provide relief. Heres a brief list:

  • bitters and soda
  • BRAT diet
  • peppermint

Not all forms of abdominal pain are preventable. But you can minimize the risk of developing abdominal pain by:

  • eating a healthy diet
  • exercising regularly
  • eating smaller meals

If you have an intestinal disorder, like Crohns disease, follow the diet your doctor has given you to minimize discomfort. If you have GERD, dont eat within 2 hours of bedtime.

Lying down too soon after eating may cause heartburn and abdominal pain. Try waiting at least 2 hours after eating before lying down.

What Is Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain may be felt anywhere between the chest and groin region of your body. The pain may be generalized, localized, or it may feel like cramps in your belly. If you have cramping or discomfort in your stomach, it may be due to gas, bloating, or constipation. Or it might be a sign of a more serious medical condition.

Colicky pain in the abdomen region comes and goes. One moment, you may feel fine, but the next, you may experience sharp, sudden pain in your abdomen. Kidney stones and gallstones are often the cause of this type of pain.

Many conditions can cause abdominal pain. But the main causes are:

  • infection

Mild abdominal pain may go away without treatment. For example, if youre experiencing abdominal pain because of gas or bloating, it may simply need to run its course.

But in some cases, abdominal pain may warrant a trip to the doctor.

You should seek immediate medical care if the pain is so severe that you cant sit still or need to curl into a ball to get comfortable, or if you have any of the following:

  • unexplained weight loss

If you dont already have a gastroenterologist, the Healthline FindCare tool can help you find a physician in your area.

Seek Medical Help For Heart Palpitations That Last 15 Minutes

11 Common Causes of Right Side Abdominal Pain

An intermittent extra heartbeat here or there isnt something that should concern you. But if you have heart palpitations that last longer than 15 minutes especially if theyre accompanied by shortness of breath, weakness, dizziness, or loss of consciousness you should be checked out, Simmons says. These symptoms could indicate a heart condition called atrial fibrillation.

In atrial fibrillation, the top chambers of the heart beat more quickly than the lower chambers. When prolonged, this can result in blood clots that can move to other parts of the body and may lead to stroke or heart failure over time.

How Are Abdominal Pain And Unintentional Weight Loss Treated

Abdominal pain and unintentional weight loss treatments can vary because their causes vary. Your doctor will try to determine the underlying cause. However, in the meantime, they may prescribe medication to help control your symptoms.

If a virus is causing your symptoms, antibiotics wont improve your symptoms because antibiotics are not effective against viruses.

If your abdominal pain and unintentional weight loss are due to a parasite, your doctor will determine the appropriate medication to kill the parasite.

Counseling can improve symptoms caused by stress and anxiety. Getting more rest and exercise may also help.

Causes Of Acute Stomach Pain

  • Eating Too Much. Eating too much can cause an upset stomach and mild stomach pain.
  • Hunger Pains. Younger children may complain of stomach pain when they are hungry.
  • GI Virus . A GI virus can cause stomach cramps as well as vomiting and/or diarrhea.

What Are Common Causes Of Lower Pain In The Back

Typical causes of low back pain consist of lumbar pressure, nerve inflammation, back radiculopathy, bony encroachment, as well as conditions of the bone and joints. Each of these is examined listed below.

Back pressure : A back pressure is a stretch injury to the tendons, ligaments, and/or muscles of the lower back. The extending case lead to microscopic splits of differing degrees in these tissues. Back stress is thought about one of the most common root causes of lower neck and back pain. Fatigue Lower Back Pain Abdominal Pain

The injury can happen because of overuse, inappropriate usage, or injury. Soft-tissue injury is commonly categorized as acute if it has been present for days to weeks. If the strain lasts longer than 3 months, it is referred to as persistent. Back pressure frequently occurs in people in their 40s, however it can occur at any age. The problem is defined by localized discomfort in the lower back location with onset after an occasion that mechanically worried the lumbar cells. The intensity of the injury varies from light to extreme, depending on the degree of strain as well as resulting spasm of the muscular tissues of the lower back.

The medical diagnosis of back pressure is based on the history of injury, the location of the pain, and exemption of nerves injury. Usually, X-ray screening is only handy to omit bone abnormalities.

Exercise: There are several exercise programs for expecting and post delivery mothers. Your doctor can suggest some, but youll need to know your own limitations. This is not the time to start an exercise program if you have never exercised before. Try walking.

Diet: A balanced diet is still key. Frequent, smaller meals will make you feel more comfortable. After your baby drops, you will experience less stomach discomfort. Before labor begins, many mothers actually lose weight or stop gaining.

Sexual relations: If you have a normal pregnancy you can have sex, but you may have to look for a more comfortable position. Its normal to lose temporary interest in sex. If you have risk factors for premature labor, have any bleeding or are carrying multiples, sex may be restricted. Check with your doctor.

Regular activities: Continue with your activities of daily living, as long you do not tire. Take rest periods throughout the day. Get off your feet, raise your legs, listen to relaxing music or take a nap. Slowly decrease the amount of bending, lifting, stooping and pushing you do as your pregnancy advances. Avoid carrying heavy laundry baskets and groceries, especially in your last trimester. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids, especially in warmer weather. By taking care of yourself you are taking good care of your baby.

Common Symptoms Women Should Never Ignore

Certain symptoms women commonly experience after age 40 may be nothing to worry about, particularly if theyre part of your norm. But when you have a sudden change like headache, nausea, fatigue, unexpected vaginal bleeding, heart palpitations that last more than 15 minutes, or a rash on your breast that doesnt go away within a couple of days, its wise to see your doctor.

The reality is that a lot of times these symptoms are normal, says Courtney Baechler, MD, a cardiologist and vice president of the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis. To put things in perspective, she reminds her patients that these are all things they’ve probably experienced in one form or another in just the past week but they can also indicate a more serious health condition.

Take extreme fatigue in women, for example. Fibromyalgia syndrome, a disorder that causes chronic, deep muscle pain, may cause debilitating fatigue, even headache. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that occurs more often in women than men and has no known cure. Medication, getting sound sleep, being active, and eating a healthy diet may help the extreme fatigue of fibromyalgia.

Severe fatigue may also be caused by much more serious conditions that need a doctors attention, including, for example:

  • Cancer
  • Depression
  • Some types of inflammatory arthritis

Diagnosing Lower Abdominal Pain In Women

Pin on Irritable Bowel Syndrome

When a woman experiences lower abdominal pain and goes to the doctor, she will be asked a series of questions about her period, urination habits, and bowel movements. She will also be asked to describe her general health and any symptoms that might seem unrelated, such as fever or fatigue. In some cases, the doctor may deem it appropriate to ask a woman about her family, career, and sex life.

Once the initial chat with the doctor is complete, a physical exam will take place. The doctor will check the abdomen and may even conduct an internal examination. Often physicians will ask for a urine sample, which can detect infection. In cases where a woman mentions vaginal discharge, the doctor may take a vaginal swab.

Here are some other possible tests:

  • Gynaecologicalâ This could include swabs, cervical smears, or pelvic ultrasounds. Special blood tests for ovarian cancer can also be performed.
  • Endoscopic examâ An examination of the bowel may occur if a colonic cause is suspected.
  • CT scanâ This is a computerized topography scan that can detect abdominal abnormalities.
  • Ultrasoundâ Can investigate urinary causes

Signs And Symptoms Of Stomach Cancer

Doru Paul, MD, is triple board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. He is an associate professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and attending physician in the Department of Hematology and Oncology at the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The signs and symptoms of stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, range from blood in the stool to abdominal pain. Oftentimes, however, stomach cancer does not have symptoms, particularly in the early stages, or the symptoms may be non-specific and easily mistaken for other conditions.

Symptoms alone cannot diagnose stomach cancer. Only an investigation by a healthcare provider, which may involve imaging studies and a biopsy, can definitively diagnose the disease.

Symptoms of stomach cancer can vary based on the stage of the disease as well as the type of cancer you have, some of which may be more aggressive than others.

Although the signs can often be vague, there are seven symptoms commonly experienced in people with stomach cancer.

Types Of Abdominal Pain

Not all abdominal pain is the same. For example, if youre experiencing acute abdominal pain, youve most likely only been dealing with the discomfort for about a week, maybe less.

Chronic abdominal pain, on the other hand, is pain thats constant or recurring. It lasts for a period of 3 months or longer.

Since there are a number of gastrointestinal and systemic disorders that lead to abdominal pain, doctors and healthcare professionals sometimes have a hard time understanding the root cause of the pain.

Progressive abdominal pain is pain that gets worse over time. Typically other symptoms occur as the abdominal pain progresses. Progressive abdominal pain is often a sign of something more serious. Read on to learn more about the different types of abdominal pain, including what and where the pain occurs and potential causes.

The doctors never seem to mention it when discussing IBS though. Sorry, I just dont know why.
