Gwyneth Paltrow Diagnosed With Adrenal Fatigue Launches New Supplement Line

The Endocrine Society acknowledges that some people believe they have adrenal fatigue, noting that while it’s not a medical diagnosis, people who say they have it describe symptoms such as tiredness, trouble falling asleep at night or waking up in the morning, salt and sugar cravings, and needing stimulants like caffeine to get through the day.

How I Healed From Adrenal Fatigue

A bit of a happy dance for me today! Last year was incredibly hairy. I actually did a bit of a number on myself and hit total burn out. Not fun, at all. The positive is, that after a fair bit of work, the adrenal fatigue I was diagnosed with is now a thing of the past. I thought I would share some of what I did to get on top of things.

First of all, adrenal fatigue is the curse of the A-type personality. The perfectionist who seems to think they can do it all, always stressed, always full of energy, until eventually, things catch up, and you crash and burn. Your body simply cant sustain the long-term stress and the adrenals start to protest. Cue a whole host of awful symptoms:

  • Trouble dragging yourself out of bed in the mornings
  • Waking up feeling exhausted
  • Craving sweet or salty foods
  • Feeling like rubbish if you skip or miss a meal
  • Lack of energy throughout the day, a real need for Nana naps, especially around 3pm
  • Loss of mojo
  • Terrible PMS
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Fuzzy memory
  • Absentmindedness
  • Feeling light headed when you go to stand, low blood pressure
  • Feeling down in the dumps, and teary
  • Feeling like you have a short fuse, and even the smallest of things bother you
  • Panic attacks

The 3 Best Supplements For Adrenal Fatigue

In my naturopathic practice, I treat fatigue on a very regular basis. No one likes to feel tired and out of commission, and often a month-long adrenal program can have immense benefits in getting people up and over the hump. Here are the 3 supplements that I think really work for fatigue. Dr. Wilson was the first person to identify this combination, but in 13 years of practice using a number of different protocols, I still think its the protocol that works the best for adrenal fatigue:

What Do You Eat

While a lower carb diet is fabulous to reduce inflammation and many symptoms of thyroid disease, eating this way for too long can put stress on the adrenals and cause hormonal imbalance. So its important to get good, healthy carbs into your diet each day such as: potatoes , root vegetables, peas, properly prepared legumes or gluten-free grains , apples, pears, berries, and beets.

I like Dr. Christiansons idea of eating one golfball-size portion of carbs at breakfast, two golfball-size portions of carbs at lunch, and three golfball-size portions of carbs at dinner. Using this method, dinner should be the largest meal of the day. And most importantly, dont stress about your food. Do the best you can, and let the rest go.

Pantothenic Acid For Adrenal Function

Pantothenic Acid is used in the production of stress hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. With overstimulation, this B vitamin gets depleted as well.

Astudyfound that pantothenic acid supplementation stimulates the ability of adrenal cells in male rats to secrete corticosterone and progesterone.

Dosage is 100-1000 mg per day.

Try:Wellena B Maximus which contains pantothenic acid as well as all your B vitamins.

A Functional Medicine Guide: Adrenal Fatigue

My patients come to me with many different health issues, but the most common one by far is fatigue. I witness the epidemic of extreme exhaustion on a daily basis, as my patients tell me how they wake up feeling exhausted and depend on caffeine to keep them awake throughout the day. They are irritable and hangry , crave salty or sugary foods, or both. They have trouble losing weight despite dieting and exercise, and have little to no sex drive. Their energy level crashes in the afternoon, but they often get a second wind before bed and find they cant wind down or sleep soundly, perpetuating the cycle.

Sadly, many think this is just the way people feel, and that it must be normal because everyone else seems to feel the same way. But just because something is common doesnt make it normal. Feeling constant, unrelenting fatigue is not normal. In fact, it is one of the primary symptoms of adrenal fatigue.

Is It A Myth

Adrenal Support Complex, Stress Relief Supplement ...

Thereâs no science to back it up. The Endocrine Society, the world’s largest organization of endocrinologists , flatly says that adrenal fatigue is not a real disease. And it says the symptoms of adrenal fatigue are so general, they can apply to many diseases or conditions or stem from everyday life.

And the society says some of the treatments can be dangerous. Improving your diet will probably make you feel better, no matter what ailment you have, but taking unidentified supplements to help your body produce extra cortisol if you don’t need them may cause your adrenal glands to stop working, it warns.

A Comprehensive Guide To Healing Adrenal Fatigue Naturally

Adrenal Fatigue is a condition that occurs when the adrenal glands, pituitary gland and hypothalamus are overtaxed. It is typically characterized by a disruption of the adrenal glands ability to make a glucocorticoid known as cortisol. The adrenals are the fulcrum that coordinates almost every hormone in the body. Adrenal fatigue is the result of chronic emotional or physical stress resulting in symptoms such as low energy levels, inability to handle stressful situations, a weakened immune system and cravings for sugary or salty foods.

Millions of people suffer from fatigue unrelieved by sleep and rest and this is one of the main symptoms of adrenal burnout & adrenal fatigue. Other symptoms of adrenal fatigue include low blood pressure, indigestion, infections, irritability and depression. This can impair vital symptoms in the body leading to toxic and dangerous emotions. People may seem hopeless, depressed, or uncaring.

Ways To Heal From Adrenal Insufficiency

The term adrenal insufficiency or adrenal fatigue is used to refer to a range of non-specific symptoms that include tiredness, body aches, nervousness, digestive problems, sleep issues, and even eating disorders. It usually afflicts individuals who have the tendency to push themselves to the limit in everything that they do. In most cases, these people overwork, overtrain, and overthink theyre also the biggest critics of their own lives, constantly striving for perfection and success or prioritising everyone else instead of themselves.

Listening To Your Bodys Symptoms

Adrenal Fatigue symptoms must be handled with care. They are messages from the body of underlying dysfunction. Our job is to listen to the messages and find solutions for the root issues. We can only learn how to heal Adrenal Fatigue as it manifests in each unique body, if we listen to our own set of symptoms.

Imagine this: You get a headache, but you shut the message off with an analgesic like Tylenol. Because of that analgesic, you can no longer assess the underlying cause of the headache, which may be low blood sugar or dehydration.

We cannot assess the real cause of that headache if we keep masking it. Although it may be hard to reduce or eliminate the use of painkillers or other prescription drugs, this is a crucial step. It needs to be done slowly, carefully, and with the guidance of a doctor. We can only understand how our bodies respond to natural treatments and supplements when we are free of conventional medicine crutches.

Hormones As Adrenal Fatigue Supplements

Healing Adrenal Fatigue â step 4- Supplements

The final category of adrenal fatigue supplements is hormones. Hormone replacement in general needs to be the last resort, and must be handled with a lot of care. People experience different side effects from taking hormones, and so we do not advise you try any of the following without proper guidance from a medical professional experienced in AFS or your particular condition.

Pregnenolone

Pregnenolone is sometimes referred to as the mother of all hormones because it is the chemical precursor to so many other hormones, such as DHEA, androstenedione, testosterone, and estrogen. For AFS recovery, it can help improve energy levels, memory, libido, mental clarity, and even vision. It can also ease PMS and hot flashes. For dosage, 10 to 50 mg per day is the usual recommendation.

DHEA

DHEA mimics the actions of pregnenolone, but with more intense effects, whether positive or negative. It can elevate mood and lower cholesterol. But beware that it has blood-thinning and hair-loss properties as well. It is usually taken along with pregnenolone, and in the dosage of 10 to 50 mg per day.

Cortisol

Other Hormones

Generally, testosterone and estrogen are not used in adrenal fatigue recovery. Progesterone may be useful for those whose recovery is already well underway, and their adrenals are strong again.

Hydrate Your Body Well:

Water is extremely critical for balancing stress hormone production. When you are dehydrated, you will naturally stimulate stress hormone production. Drinking 8oz of water can be one of the best ways to tone down the stress response and put you back into a state of rest and repair.

On a daily basis, I recommend starting your day with 16-32 oz of water first thing in the morning and consuming a minimum of 8oz of water every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Your goal should be a minimum of half your body weight in ounces of water each day.

It is also great to add in fresh squeezed lemon or lime, essential oils or apple cider vinegar to add more anti-oxidants and enzymes.

Eat For Blood Sugar Balance

Low blood sugar levels can be a cause of fatigue, yawning, sleepiness, and brain fog. Eating a diet that minimizes blood sugar swings can help.

To keep your blood sugar stable, aim to eat a diet low in processed carbohydrates like bread, pasta, crackers, and chips. Eat more whole foods, such as high-quality proteins, healthy fats, and complex, slow-burning carbs, like fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and seeds.

The paleo diet is a low-carb diet that helps keep blood sugar steady [24

Heal Adrenal Fatigue: The Supplement That Changed My Life

Heal Adrenal Fatigue: The supplement that CHANGED MY LIFE.

No really, its changed my life!

So, after three hard pregnancys followed by 3 really hard C-sections and then spending most nights for the last 7 years sleep deprived, because of this child or that child, I began to feel well, a little not myself.

True, after my girls I suffered from mild postpartum depression, but eventually it passed.

What didnt pass were my daily headaches, neck and shoulder tension, brain fog and feeling like a real Momma Bear, one whod love nothing more than to hibernate for months at time, even when I was getting 8+ hours of sleep at night.

In total, here are my symptoms:

  • Headaches, neck tension and upper back pain
  • Never feeling fully rested
  • Anxiety about things Ive never been anxious about
  • Craving salty food
  • Sensitivity to cold to the point where cold physically hurt
  • Low immune system
  • Waking up all night for no reason
  • Brain fog
  • Body Pain
  • Trust me, Id tried everything Acupuncture, massages, foam rollers, tennis balls, daily yoga, positive thoughts, chiropractic, dietary improvements, and rolfing: a type of soft tissue manipulation that helps correct body posture and structure. Rolfing helped me the most, but still I wasnt myself.

It was the Rolfer I was visiting weekly who suggested that I may want to look into adrenal fatigue.

Say What? Never even heard of it. What the H was an adrenal? Lol. Can we say clueless!

Two weeks in: my anxiety is waning and I havent had a headache

    Get High Quality Sun Exposure:

Sun exposure on our skin not only helps to boost up vitamin D levels, but it also improves the ability of our mitochondria to produce energy for healing and repair. This helps take stress off of the adrenals and helps them to heal and regenerate faster .

Vitamin D is one of the best homeostatic regulators within our bodies and needed for healthy adrenal function. But our bodies also absorb biophotons from the sun, which are light particles that create reactions in our cells promoting DNA repair and synthesis.

    E: Exercise + Emotions

Exercise is great for your heart, bone health, weight management and metabolism, but it is also a key part of managing your stress. Exercise acts as a natural stress reliever by decreasing cortisol levels and boosting endorphins which help decrease pain, act as a natural mood booster, and help you sleep. As endorphins increase, your stress levels decrease. So while you may be feeling tired from your adrenal fatigue, exercise can actually help boost your energy during the day and give you a more restful nights sleep at night.

    • Tip: Dont overdo it. If you are feeling even more fatigued after exercise, you are over doing it which is actually stressing out your adrenal glands more than it is helping. Decrease your exercise to an amount where you notice a boost in your energy afterwards and then slowly increase your exercise from there as tolerated.

    • here for more information about finding the right exercise for you.

  • Note: I frequently use NET for patients to help identify and work through both past and present emotions that may be contributing to current stress as well as the stress response. Identifying the underlying and usually deep-rooted emotions is vital to being able to work through them.

  • Fish Oil For Easing Mental Stress

Omega 3 fatty acidsresearch has shown it may help support adrenal health by easing the bodys response to mental stress. Fish oil is anti-inflammatory and supports cell fluidity which is important for healthy communication between cells. As catecholamines, cortisol, insulin, and other hormones are being overproduced during stress, cells will begin to get numb or deaf to these messages from overexposure.

As the cell becomes more resistant, the body does not respond to the messages resulting in fatigue, insulin resistance, inflammation and poor immune health. Fish oil can resensitize these receptors and support these chemical pathways in the body.

Take a high potency fish oil delivered in the natural triglyceride form. Take 800-1000 mg each of EPA and DHA. Look on the back of the label to see each of these listed out, dont pay attention to the 1000 mg listed on the front of most labels.

Only use fish oil products that are molecularly distilled and filtered to ensure purity and to maximize the removal of heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, PCBs, and other contaminants.

To make it easier for you, I have also created the Adrenal Repair Kit which consists of all the critical vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Getting the Kit will also save you 15% as compared to getting the single products.
