Why Green Smoothies Are The Key To Optimal Health
I started reading about how amazing green smoothies were for energy.
I decided it was time to put green smoothies to the test.
So I got my blender out and just threw in a load of vegetables including leafy greens.
I didnt follow a recipe. I just made it up.
Was it tasty?
Ive got to be honest no, it was not tasty. I will be sharing my formula with you a little later about how to guarantee your smoothies are tasty. And it took me a long time to realise that green smoothies could actually be tasty.
So really it was a vegetable smoothie I was making.
It wasnt good but I didnt care. I was sick and I was at the point I would have done anything to recover.
So I gulped one of these down every day and something amazing happened.
I started to recover. I started to notice spells of increased energy and felt the life running through my body again.
The weight finally started to come off and it was coming off so fast. Every day I seemed to lose another pound.
After a while I started making simple banana and spinach smoothies and massively increased the amount of fruit in my diet.
It still didnt taste great but it wasnt disgusting either.

Try A Variety Of Relaxation Approaches
- Keep your focus here and now: Try to live through your senses, not just your head. The more mindful you are, the more this will help to reduce your cortisol levels.
- Take a break in nature: This can not only reduce your stress hormones, but also boosts natural killer cells that increase your immunity.
- Enjoy regular touch: Through hugs, making love or enjoying a massage. Enjoyable physical contact triggers the release of oxytocin, which has calming impacts.
Dont:
- Persist with meditation if its not working for you: Try visualization or listening to soothing music with your eyes closed. Chanting for just 12 minutes a day can also reduce stress levels and lower inflammation in people who are stressed.
- Slouch: Instead strike a power pose. Try the victory pose and the wonder woman pose . Research from Harvard University shows that these kinds of poses, drop your cortisol and raise your testosterone, so you feel more in control and more able to handle risks and tricky situations. Amy Cuddy, who is an expert in this area, gives a fantastic Ted talk about the impact of body language on hormones and emotional states.
Which Foods Contribute To Inflammation
Its important for everyone to eliminate toxic, inflammatory foods from their diet. These include refined oils, artificial sweeteners, MSG, processed foods, sugars, conventional dairy products, and gluten. Research shows that proteins in wheat are linked to inflammatory bowel disease as well as conditions such as multiple sclerosis, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Sugar is also a strong driving factor of inflammation and weight gain. Consuming just one sugar-sweetened beverage per day like fruit juice can lead to an increase in insulin resistance, LDL cholesterol, and c-reactive protein a type of protein made by the liver that is sent into the bloodstream in response to inflammation.
Inflammatory foods are found to increase the bodys acid production, which leads to inflammation. Coffee, soda, potato chips, alcohol, dairy products, and processed meats contribute to the formation of acid and are linked to inflammation and weight gain.
You deserve to maintain a healthy weight without powerful saboteurs standing in your way. Eating a clean diet and drinking pure water are some of the best ways to stop inflammation in its tracks and achieve the weight loss goals youre after.

How Can I Tell If I Have Cancer Fatigue
- Think of your personal energy stores as a “bank.” Deposits and withdrawals have to be made over the course of the day or the week to ensure a balance between energy conservation, restoration and expenditure.
- Keep a diary for one week to identify the time of day when you are either most fatigued or have the most energy. Note what you think may be contributing factors.
- Be alert to the warning signs of impending cancer fatigue tired eyes, tired legs, whole-body tiredness, stiff shoulders, decreased energy or a lack of energy, inability to concentrate, weakness or malaise, boredom or lack of motivation, sleepiness, increased irritability, nervousness, anxiety or impatience.
Weight Gain & Fibromyalgia Me/cfs
One of my own personal biggest issues with Fibromyalgia has been the weight gain and my bodys resistance to lose it. When I am having a severe flare of ME/CFS where I am bedridden for weeks or months, I will usually lose about 20 25 pounds. But once the flare is over and I start to recover the weight comes back on and then some.
Over the years I have talked with many Fibromyalgia patients who all have the same story. It doesnt seem to matter how little they eat, what diet they try, what exercises they do the weight refuses to come off. If they are able to lose weight, it is a short-lived process. They may lose a few pounds and then they plateau a lot sooner than they normally would.
Mark Pellegrino, MD who wrote Fibromyalgia: Up Close & Personal, says that its not unusual for someone with Fibromyalgia to gain 25 30 pounds the first year after becoming ill with Fibromyalgia.
When we first think of weight gain with Fibromyalgia, we automatically assume it is due to exercise and activity levels decreasing due to pain and fatigue. While this is definitely one reason, there are several other factors that can contribute to the weight gain:
Medications. Depending on the type of medication the FM patient is taking, weight gain can be a side effect. Antidepressants are typically prescribed for Fibromyalgia and weight gain is definitely a side effect of these.
Eat a high-protein/low carbohydrate diet
Eat your proteins first.
Eat until full.
Take a break on weekends.

I Cant Shed Any Pounds No Matter How Little Or How Well I Eat
Blame it on: High and low cortisol
Do you:
- Hate getting dressed in the morning because you have to find new ways to disguise the extra kilos that keeping appearing on your belly?
- Feel distressed by unpredictable fluid retention that makes you look puffy in the face, tummy and legs?
- Struggle to shed any kilos or even just maintain your current dress size even though you eat right for your body and exercise regularly?
- Complain that even if you ate nothing but air you still wouldnt lose any weight?
Then its highly likely you have adrenal fatigue. Its well accepted that stress and weight gain go hand in hand.
The culprit? Cortisol. The impacts of high cortisol can easily be seen in people who suffer Cushings disease, a condition that causes chronic excess cortisol. Cushings sufferers experience round puffy faces, high blood pressure and weight gain, particularly around the belly and chest.
But similar side effects can occur if you are exposed to sustained stress. Suddenly you pack on more pounds even though youre not eating more food. And exercise doesnt shift it either.

No wonder we dont like our leafy greens!

Overweight Cfs And Control Group Comparisons
Overweight CFS and control groups were compared on a number of socio-demographic items to assess any observable differences between these two groups. The mean age of the study population was 40 years at baseline. Table 1 demonstrates that both overweight groups are comparable on sociodemographic items and there are no significant differences between these two groups, aside from CFS status. The overweight CFS group and the overweight control group were comparable in terms of race, gender, marital status, occupational status, educational status, parental status, age, socioeconomic status and BMI at both Wave 1 and Wave 2.
Are There Supplements I Can Take
There is not enough evidence to support taking regular specific vitamin and mineral supplements to cure or manage ME/CFS. You may be at risk of side effects if you take doses above the recommended daily amount.
However, people with ME/CFS may be at risk of Vitamin D deficiency, particularly those who are bedbound or do not go outside. It is recommended to take a daily supplement containing 10g or 400IU vitamin D.
Most people should get all the nutrients they need through a balanced and varied diet, however if you are concerned, you could take a daily multivitamin containing no more than 100% of recommended daily intake.
