Hormone Type 6 Ovarian Fatigue

Must Read

What Is Hormone Therapy

Ovarian Adrenal Thyroid (OAT) Axis Imbalance and Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome

Hormone therapy slows or stops the growth of hormone-sensitive tumors by blocking the bodys ability to produce hormones or by interfering with effects of hormones on breast cancer cells. Tumors that are hormone insensitive do not have hormone receptors and do not respond to hormone therapy.

Hormone therapy for breast cancer should not be confused with menopausal hormone therapy treatment with estrogen alone or in combination with progesterone to help relieve symptoms of menopause. These two types of therapy produce opposite effects: hormone therapy for breast cancer blocks the growth of HR-positive breast cancer, whereas MHT can stimulate the growth of HR-positive breast cancer. For this reason, when a woman taking MHT is diagnosed with HR-positive breast cancer she is usually asked to stop that therapy.

Diagnosis Of Androgen Deficiency In Women

If you think you may have androgen deficiency, it is important to have a full medical check-up. The symptoms of androgen deficiency are similar to those of many other conditions, such as:

  • hypothyroidism
  • depression.

Your doctor may need to assess you for these conditions.

No specific test for androgen deficiency exists. Many blood and salivary tests for testosterone levels lack accuracy when measuring the low levels present in women, though some sensitive testosterone tests are now available.

Testosterone is difficult to measure for many reasons. For example, the amount circulating in the blood does not reflect the amount active inside body cells. To further complicate matters, a womans blood test results can vary depending on when the test is taken, because hormone levels fluctuate, not just throughout the menstrual cycle, but during every day.

Typically, if you are having your testosterone levels checked, blood needs to be taken in the morning, when your testosterone levels are at their peak. If you are a woman of reproductive age, the test should take place about eight to 20 days after the start of your menstrual period.

Is The Hormone Reset Diet A Healthy Choice For You

Although the Hormone Reset Diet focuses on whole, nutritious foods, it also excludes many foods of high nutritional value.

While the Hormone Reset Diet excludes grains, the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends an average of 6 to 8 ounces of grains per day, depending on your caloric needs.

Similarly, the Dietary Guidelines recommend around 2 cups of fruit and 3 cups of dairy per day, while the Hormone Reset Diet eliminates these foods. On the Hormone Reset Diet, you are restricted to 99 grams of carbohydrates or less per day, whereas the USDA recommends at least 130 grams of carbohydrates per day.

Following the diet will restrict you to approximately 1,000 to 1,200 calories per day in order to lose weight. This calorie goal is well below the level recommended by the USDA of 1,800 to 3,200 for weight maintenance depending on your sex, age, and activity level.

Where the Hormone Reset Diet shines is the recommendation to consume plenty of vegetables. Many people do not meet the recommended amounts of vegetables. The USDA recommends the approximate following intake of vegetables each week, which could be more or less depending on your calorie intake:

  • 1.5 to 2 cups of leafy greens
  • 5.5 to 6 cups of red and orange vegetables
  • 1.5 to 2 cups of beans, peas, and lentils
  • 5 to 6 cups of starchy vegetables
  • 4 to 5 cups of other vegetables

Research is ongoing about estrogen’s role in conditions affecting other body systems. For instance, estrogen has been linked to some endocrine disorders and gastrointestinal diseases.

What Is The Hormone Diet

Metabolic Renewal: Type 6

The Hormone Diet is a book and diet program by Dr. Natasha Turner, a naturopathic doctor. Its primary focus is on hormone fluctuations that may negatively affect a persons weight. It also focuses on other factors that can contribute to weight gain and other chronic diseases.

The Hormone Diet is a 6-week, three-step process designed to promote hormonal balance and an overall healthier body through diet, exercise, nutritional supplements, and detoxification. The diet regulates what you eat and also tells you the right time to eat to ensure maximum benefit to your hormones.

The book boasts of being the first diet book to emphasize the importance of hormonal balance among all the hormones that influence weight. It also claims to be the first to explain the lifestyle habits that can help boost hormones to burn fat. These include:

  • sleeping
  • managing stress
  • exercising

The diet aims for weight loss of up to 12 pounds, including water weight, in the first phase. It aims for about 2 pounds a week after that without calorie counting.

According to the author, following the entire protocol may help you optimize the levels of inflammation in your body as well as these hormones:

  • acetylcholine

The full list is in the book The Hormone Diet.

The second phase also involves ridding your diet of human-made foods, which include:

  • processed foods
  • refined grains
  • foods that contain nitrates, such as cured meats

May Support Weight Loss

Several aspects of the program may aid short-term weight loss.

For starters, Metabolic Renewal encourages a diet rich in unprocessed whole foods, including meat, fish, poultry, and vegetables.

These foods are not only often lower in calories than processed foods but also rich in important nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Additionally, some research links a lower intake of processed foods to a decreased risk of obesity .

Metabolic Renewal is also low in carbs, with most meals consisting of vegetables and a source of protein. Some studies show that low carb diets promote short-term weight loss and fat loss .

Whats more, increasing your protein intake may keep you feeling full for longer, which likewise supports weight loss .

What Is Premature Ovarian Failure

Premature ovarian failure happens when ovaries slow or stop production of mature eggs and reproductive hormones before the age of 40. This can prompt irregular periods and an eventual cessation of menstruation entirely. This leaves women with two equally disturbing concerns: the possibility of infertility, and plenty ofcomplicated symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, vaginal dryness and a lowered sex drive.

On the surface, the symptoms of premature ovarian failure look suspiciously like early menopause, but make no mistake, this is not menopause.

There are very important differences between POF and menopause:

The term premature ovarian failure has always struck us the wrong way. The word failure makes you feel like youve done something wrong. The truth is some women with POF may still have periods and may even get pregnant. So ovaries have not entirely failed.

When I write this diagnosis in a womans chart, I make sure she understands that she hasnt failed. In my opinion, a more accurate description is ovarian hypofunction which means your ovarian function has declined not stopped entirely.

1. Your age

  • Natural menopause occurs after the age of 45, usually around age 51.
  • Early menopause, as defined in medical literature, occurs anywhere between ages 40 and 45.
  • Premature menopause occurs any time before the age of 40.

2. Whether you are still menstruating

3. Fertility status

May Lead To Weight Regain

Keep in mind that Metabolic Renewal is a short-term program designed to be followed for 12 weeks.

Although many short-term diets lead to rapid weight loss, youre likely to regain weight after you resume a normal diet. Thats partly because brief dietary changes dont often translate to long-term lifestyle habits .

summary

Several core elements of Metabolic Renewal are scientifically suspect, including the concept of specific hormone types. Furthermore, the diet may lead to weight regain.

Metabolic Renewal provides a 12-week meal plan, although you can still create your own meals using the basic principles of the diet.

Heres a sample 3-day meal plan for Metabolic Renewal.

What Are Common Treatments For Estrogen

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) caused by Adrenal Fatigue

Hormone replacement therapy is a common treatment for low estrogen, especially for people experiencing menopause. With HT, your provider prescribes small doses of estrogen to boost your level or a combination of estrogen and progesterone . HT comes with risks, though, and isnt for everyone. Talk to your provider about whether youre a good candidate for HT.

What Is The Endocrine System

Pin on Weight Loss Ideas

The endocrine system is in charge of coordinating the relationship between different organs and hormones, which are chemicals that are released into your bloodstream from cells within your endocrine glands.

Hormones are secreted by various glands and organs, including your thyroid, adrenals, pituitary, ovaries, testicles and pancreas. The entire endocrine system works together to control the level of hormones circulating throughout your body, and if one or more is even slightly imbalanced, it can cause widespread health problems affecting growth, sexual development and function, sleep, metabolism and hunger.

Once your hormones are in circulation, they target specific tissues or cells by binding to receptors that are located inside the cell or on its surface. These hormones work as chemical messengers and play a key role in your bodys daily functions.

The endocrine system is made up of many glands, including the pituitary gland or master gland thats responsible for sending information from your brain to other glands in your body. The pituitary gland also produces many hormones that travel throughout the body and have different important functions.

The pituitary gland is made up of two different tissue types: the anterior pituitary that synthesizes and releases classic hormones, and the posterior pituitary gland that secretes neurohormones that are made in the hypothalamus.

What You Need To Know

Aside from eliminating dairy, grains, and fruit, sugar and caffeine are also banned. The Hormone Reset Diet does not recommend foods made through genetic modification . This is a very controversial subject. While, most organizations have deemed GMOs safe, some may argue that we simply don’t know the long-term effects.

  • GMO foods

Vegetables

Aim to eat a pound or more of vegetables per day, sticking to less starchy, high fiber choices to stay under the required 99 grams of carbohydrates.

Organic, Free-Range Eggs and Poultry

The Hormone Diet claims that non-organic, factory-produced eggs and poultry contain toxins that contribute to hormonal imbalance.

Wild-Caught Fish

Wild-caught fish is said to contain fewer toxins that interfere with hormone balance.

Stevia, Xylitol, and Erythritol

Stevia is a zero-calorie plant-based sweetener that is thought to be more natural than artificial sweeteners. Xylitol and erythritol are sugar alcohols that are low calorie and sugar-free. They do not increase blood sugar and so are approved for use on the Hormone Reset Diet.

Meat

Eliminating meat, according to the Hormone Reset Diet, resets your estrogen levels. According to the diet, being estrogen dominant will prevent you from losing weight. The diet refers to all red meat as “meat.” Poultry is allowed if it is organic and free-range.

Alcohol

Alcohol is eliminated on the hormone reset diet because chronic consumption has been linked to an increase in estrogen levels.

Sugar

Fruit

Caffeine

Hormone Type 5 Metabolic Sputter

Metabolic sputter is also called Perimenopause.

Its the stage where the fertility years start to come to an end. The time where less estrogen is being made by the ovaries.

The word used to describe this type of hormone is unpredictable.

Both estrogen and progesterone are constantly fluctuating. Essentially, progesterone levels decline which forces estrogen to work harder.

With this hormone type, your body can get confused.

The symptoms can include:

  • Sleep issues
  • Hot flashes and cold sweats.

Some other challenges of this hormone can include increased anxiety levels, feeling tired during the day, periods that are random, and unexpected mood swings.

Causes Of Androgen Deficiency In Women

Some of the possible causes of androgen deficiency in women include:

  • ageing a drop in testosterone naturally occurs in all women over time from about the late teenage years
  • oophorectomy the surgical removal of the ovaries
  • chemical oophorectomy ovarian failure caused by certain medication, such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists, chemotherapy or radiotherapy
  • oral oestrogen therapy the combined oral contraceptive pill or oestrogen tablets for managing the symptoms of menopause. The combined oral contraceptive pill shuts down the ovarian production of androgens. In addition, oral oestrogen of any type increases the binding protein for testosterone, making less testosterone available for biological action
  • hypothalamic amenorrhoea the loss of menstrual periods in a woman of reproductive age, which could be caused by various factors such as stress, extreme weight loss or extreme exercise. This again lowers the ovarian production of hormones including androgens
  • hyperprolactinaemia overproduction of the pituitary hormone prolactin
  • premature ovarian failure early menopause , with various causes
  • adrenal insufficiency primary or secondary
  • hypopituitarism a rare disorder of the pituitary gland.

Metabolic Renewal Hormone Type : Mixed Signals Balanced Progesterone And Estrogen

Hormone Type 1 is considered to be the natural state of a womans monthly cycle, starting with a higher level of estrogen for the first 14 days, and transitioning into a stage of progesterone dominance for the last 14 days.

Even though the hormones in type 1 are performing as expected, that doesnt mean a woman with hormone type 1 will not be impacted by the natural fluctuations.

In fact, these hormonal cycles are responsible for all of the changes in a womans metabolism. Learning to eat, exercise, and live in harmony with these cycles will significantly boost fat burn.
