Experiencing Eye Fatigue with Computer Use?

We all can relate to hours spent each day on our smart phone, tablet and computer. The average adult American spends close to 4 hours a day on an electronic device . You start off each day seeing well, your eyes feeling good, but that all changes as the day wears on. By the end of the day, your eyes are now feeling tired, going in and out of focus, maybe feeling dry and needing to blink a lot to focus and even have some degree of a headache around or behind your eyes.

Now, if you are over the age of 40, you may be feeling this strain to an even greater extent due to near focusing changes in the visual system due to the maturing eye. You may even be wearing glasses already that have been prescribed as single vision general use or you may be wearing a multifocal, standard Progressive lens. And you ask yourself, If I have glasses, why do my eyes still bother me at the end of the day?

Say goodbye to eyestrain and computer eye fatigue and hello to clearer vision throughout your work day with computer glasses that are designed for you!

Spheric Vs Aspheric Atoric Etc

Lens manufacturers claim that aspheric lenses improve vision over traditional spheric lenses. This statement could be misleading to individuals who do not know that the lenses are being implicitly compared to “a spheric flattened away from best-form for cosmetic reasons”. This qualification is necessary since best-form spherics are always better than aspherics for an ophthalmic lens application. Aspherics are only used for corrective lenses when, in order to achieve a flatter lens for cosmetic reasons, the lens design deviates from the best-form sphere this results in degradation of the visual correction, degradation which can, in some part, be compensated for by an aspheric design. The same is true for atoric and bi-aspheric.

While it is true that aspheric lenses are used in cameras and binoculars, it would be wrong to assume that this means aspherics/atorics result in better optics for eyewear. Cameras and telescopes use multiple lens elements and have different design criteria. Spectacles are made of only one ophthalmic lens, and the best-form spheric lens has been shown to give the best vision. In cases where best-form is not used, such as cosmetic flattening, thinning or wrap-around sunglasses, an aspheric design can reduce the amount of induced optical distortions.

How To Choose The Right Anti

Before choosing the right anti-fatigue lenses for you, it pays to consider the following factors first.

1. You are not presbyopic or do not have any symptoms of the condition. Most probably, you also need to be at least 15-40 years old.

2. You are experiencing visual fatigue and eye strain after computer work, reading, and other near vision tasks.

3. Pre-presbyopic individuals.

4. You are having problems with the eye team and focusing system.

Before purchasing these lenses, it would be beneficial to see an eye doctor first. Check whether you really need anti-fatigue lenses. In some cases, doctors will also advise you to do various eye exercises to alleviate eye strain. However, if other eye conditions persist, you may consider buying one. Additionally, these lenses are far more expensive than single vision lenses, and they might be one of the primary considerations when choosing anti-fatigue lenses.

Pros:

  • Easy adaptation due to a clear cut transition between near and distance vision

  • Lower price point compared to progressive lenses

Cons:

  • Unappealing cosmetically due to horizontal line within the lens

I should add that a progressive lens allows for multiple prescriptions within one lens these multifunction lenses accommodate your distance prescription, your intermediate prescription, and your near vision prescription.

Bifocals lenses as youve probably seen, have a visible horizontal line near the bottom of the lens. These were an older type of lens and we could say they are not as practical in this day and age. The reason for this is because a good portion of our day involves being on our computer screen, which we categorize as intermediate vision. Bifocalsonly correct for distance and close near vision they do not correct for intermediate vision.

On the other hand, progressives include the added benefit of a line-free lens which gradually changes power as the user looks on down towards the bottom of the lens. This includes correcting for the intermediate vision of the patient. Intermediate vision is used for tasks such as computer work or looking at the dashboard in your car while driving.

Eyewear Today Is Fashion

Rule #1:

You will pay more for a frame with a designer name. Frame manufacturers spend millions of dollars buying the rights to put designer names on their frame lines. They have to recoup that cost somewhere, so the higher the brand recognition is, the higher the cost will be. Stores will also charge a premium for exclusive brands, styles and the latest fashion trends in eyewear.

Rule #2:

Designer frames look better than non-designer frames. Do not kid yourself. The frame companies know how to manipulate style. The best-looking shapes, styles and colors are combined in the higher cost designer lines.

Rule #3

Just because a frame has a designer name does not mean it is a better product. In fact, it was most likely made on the very same assembly line and from the very same materials as the companys house brand. Heck it is even possible that a no-name or more generic brand name may be of higher quality than the fancy big-name designer line.

When you buy a frame, think about how and when you will wear it. If you wear your contact lenses 99% of the time, then buy a house-brand frame, and save your money. Does it really matter what your bedside readers look like? Do you need a designer frame for your computer glasses?

This video covers the basics of frame fit quite well. Sorry it is a bit of a hodge-podge of some old stuff and new video. We are working on a new version.

Only Need One Pair Of Eyeglasses

Some people find that a progressive lens is better than a single-vision lens because it allows them to see clearly at different distances without the need to carry a second pair of eyeglasses.

A progressive lens does the job of a single-vision lens and reading glasses, so that you only have one pair of glasses on hand.

Bifocal Lenses Vs Progressive Lenses

Progressive Lenses: Pros & Cons | SportRx
Bifocal prescription glasses are made especially for those individuals that are nearsighted and farsighted at the same time. Such individuals with dual power in their eyes opt for those glasses online that are the best fit for presbyopia.
However, the intermediate distance of bifocal glasses has a poor visual effect. Produce an image jump phenomenon and have a poor appearance. Due to its own major shortcomings and the popularity of progressive lenses, bifocal lenses have been basically eliminated.
Progressive lenses are developed on the basis of bifocal lenses. In addition to not having to remove the glasses, the wearer can also move the line of sight gradually between the upper and lower focal lengths when observing the far/near objects. The eyeball neednt constantly adjust the focal length, and there is no obvious dividing line between the two focal lengths.

Are Progressive Lenses More Expensive Than Bifocals

Yes, the price range for progressive lenses is usually higher when compared to the price range of bifocals. Remember that within each type of lens there is usually a good, better, and best lens design so usually everyone can find something that meets their budget and accomplishes their vision goals.

Although both lenses are custom made, the technology that is embedded within the lens is much more complex and advanced for progressive lenses compared to bifocals. In addition, the lab processing time for progressive lenses is considerably longer as their algorithms are more sophisticated.

Lens Induced Oblique Astigmatism

As the eye shifts its gaze from looking through the optical center of the corrective lens, the lens-induced astigmatism value increases. In a spherical lens, especially one with a strong correction whose base curve is not in the best spherical form, such increases can significantly impact the clarity of vision in the periphery.

How To Get Used To Progressive Lenses

Look far away, then focus on something closer as you lower your eyes to the mid part of the lenses.
Then, take a book and look through the bottom of the lenses.
Next try moving your head and not just your eyes up and down and side-to-side as you look through the different fields of vision.
Remember to use your head to point towards where you wish to look.
Please note that if you look through the corners of the lenses, they will always seem a bit blurry. Thats completely normal!

What Are Resting Glasses

Visual fatigue affects a large segment of the population, whether it is an employee, men, women, children or students. Computers are not the only risk devices, but also smartphones, televisions or tablets with LED screens. In fact, many do not know that artificial light on screens emits a blue light that can cause unexpected discomfort. Example: Heaviness in the eyelid or irritation of the retina. Renowned glass manufacturers such as or Essilor have recognized this problem and developed glasses to avoid these health problems. These types of glasses are called anti-fatigue glasses.

The glasses have many advantages that support your eyes during a long day in front of the screen. LED screens emit dangerous blue light that can cause long-term damage to the eyes and retina. The main job of the resting glasses is to reduce the harmful effects of light sources projected directly onto the cornea. Schoolchildren in particular can benefit from the glasses that counteract the blue light.
