Remember, the only way to know for sure that youre pregnant is to take a pregnancy test or have your healthcare provider perform an ultrasound.

Cramping And Spotting During Early Pregnancy

From weeks 1 to 4, everything is still happening on a cellular level. The fertilized egg creates a blastocyst that will develop into the fetuss organs and body parts.

About 10 to 14 days after conception, the blastocyst will implant in the endometrium, which is the lining of the uterus. This can cause implantation bleeding, which may be mistaken for a light period. It does not occur for everyone. If it does occur, it will usually happen around the time you expect your period.

Here are some signs of implantation bleeding:

  • Color. The color of each episode may be pink, red, or brown.
  • Bleeding. Implantation bleeding is usually much less than your usual period. Its often described as light bleeding that never turns into a flow or enough to need a tampon.
  • Pain. Pain is usually milder than your usual menstrual pain. It may involve some cramping. It can be moderate or severe, but its most often mild.
  • Episodes. Implantation bleeding is likely to last less than 3 days and does not require treatment. It can sometimes last only a few hours.

A Small Amount Of Bleeding Which Could Be Implantation Bleeding

You may think that if youre slightly bleeding or spotting its a sign your period is on its way, but this can actually indicate a fertilized egg implanting into your uterus or other normal effects of early pregnancy. A quarter of pregnant women experience this spotting, researchers published in the American Family Physician.

According to the National Institutes of Health , spotting generally starts about 6 to 12 days after you conceive.

This spotting may last a few days or can continue for several weeks, or even through the first trimester. Experts at the Cleveland Clinic note that this implantation bleeding might look like a brownish discharge or it may contain small drops of redder blood.

When Do Pre Pregnancy Symptoms Start

Pregnancy symptoms differ from person to person, and pregnancy to pregnancy as well. It means that there is no specific time for showing up these symptoms. It is good to mention that, there are some women who do not notice any symptoms until several weeks. In contrast, some ladies face with pre pregnancy symptoms soon after conception.

Overall, symptoms such as tender breast and sensitivity to smell can show up a few days after conception, even before missed period. Other symptoms may appear later, for example, spotting may show up on 1 week after conception and urinary frequency a few weeks after that.

Those who experience symptoms like spotting, missed period, morning sickness and fatigue should take home pregnancy test and after that, make an appointment with a doctor to take more reliable tests, such as blood test.

What Causes Pregnancy Fatigue

When you first become pregnant, your body immediately begins to undergo major changes. These physiologic changes in the body are what contribute to early pregnancy fatigue, says Dr. Biegner. Some of the changes during early pregnancy that may lead to an increase in fatigue include:

  • Increase in hormones like progesterone
  • Increase in blood volume to help support a developing baby and placenta
  • Low blood sugar
  • Sleep disturbances

The fatigue you experience in those early weeks of pregnancy may disappear as you enter your second trimester, but Dr. Biegner says to expect it to return as you enter the final weeks before delivery. Some women will experience fatigue in the third trimester as well, she explains. This can be caused by the following:

  • Carrying a growing baby is more work for the body and may cause fatigue
  • Multiple bathroom trips that disrupt a good nights sleep
  • Difficulty sleeping due to inability to find a comfortable position
