Bifidobacterium Infantis 35624 Modulates Host Inflammatory Processes Beyond The Gut
Certain therapeutic microbes, including Bifidobacteria infantis 35624 exert beneficial immunoregulatory effects by mimicking commensal-immune interactions however, the value of these effects in patients with non-gastrointestinal inflammatory conditions remains unclear.
In this study, we assessed the impact of oral administration of B. infantis 35624, for 68 weeks on inflammatory biomarker and plasma cytokine levels in patients with ulcerative colitis , chronic fatigue syndrome and psoriasis in three separate randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled interventions. Additionally, the effect of B. infantis 35624 on immunological biomarkers in healthy subjects was assessed.
At baseline, both gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal patients had significantly increased plasma levels of C-reactive protein and the pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-6 compared with healthy volunteers. B. infantis 35624 feeding resulted in reduced plasma CRP levels in all three inflammatory disorders compared with placebo.
Interestingly, plasma TNF- was reduced in CFS and psoriasis while IL-6 was reduced in UC and CFS. Furthermore, in healthy subjects, LPS-stimulated TNF- and IL-6 secretion by peripheral blood mononuclear cells was significantly reduced in the B. infantis 35624-treated groups compared with placebo following eight weeks of feeding.
Home Remedies And Lifestyle
Making lifestyle changes may greatly impact how you feel, and the specific changes you need can depend on the severity of your illness and whether certain activities exacerbate your symptoms. While some people may see the tremendous benefit just from making changes to the way they eat, for example, others may find that more sweeping changessuch as a job changemay be necessary.
Have You Tried Probiotics For Your Depression Anxiety Or Mental Health
If youve tried probiotics for your depression, anxiety, or brain health, have you noticed any significant benefits? To help others get a better understanding of your particular situation, mention the specific probiotic product that youre taking, as well as the specific strains of bacteria within that product, and the total CFU . Assuming your probiotic has had no effect on your overall health, have you considered that the particular product youre taking isnt actually delivering the bacteria to your gut?
Many probiotic products are hypothesized to deliver the beneficial bacteria to your gut, completely unadulterated. The problem is that many times the product will have spoiled and/or the bacteria will die off well before they can proliferate within your gut. If you believe that a particular probiotic is working well for you, have you considered a possible placebo effect and/or been able to dismiss such an effect?
Since there is a bidirectional relationship between the brain and the gut, perhaps even if there is a placebo effect it could yield benefit for your gut health via CNS-to-ENS signaling. That said, if you want to rule out a placebo effect, you could pursue a gut assay via a kit that involves mailing in a stool sample. The stool sample is analyzed and a microbial profile is created for your particular gut to highlight pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and parasites.

What Is A Leaky Gut
The lining of your intestine is made of millions of cells. These cells normally join tightly together to create a barrier between your gut and the bloodstream and keep pathogens bacteria or viruses from entering circulation.
But that barrier must also contain microscopic gaps to allow nutrients from food you have digested to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Its a fine balancing act.
In an unhealthy gut, the lining called the epithelium can weaken, so larger gaps develop in the barrier. These loose junctions allow toxins and bacteria to leak into the bloodstream and body. This triggers inflammation in the gut and then throughout the body. Its now established that inflammation is a key driver of most later-life illnesses.
The loose junctions ie. leaky gut or, to use the medical term, increased intestinal permeability lead to a chain-reaction of immediate health problems. These include bloating, gas, cramps, food sensitivities, poor absorption of vitamins and minerals, fatigue, headaches, joint pain and even mood disorders.
Even more seriously, it is linked to several auto-immune diseases.
In fact, Harvard Health’s newsletter says: The research world is booming today with studies showing that modifications in the intestinal bacteria and inflammation may play a role in the development of several common chronic diseases.
Dhea 50 Mg Supplement
2.0 – MICRONIZED IS BEST — DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE USING THESE HORMONES.
I’ve been taking DHEA since it was available BY PRESCRIPTION from a compound pharmacy. I researched the supplement heavily as I was diagnosed in 1993 with Chronic Fatigue. In my own research I learned that if one’s body is compromised, as mine was, and in my 50’s, I should take ONLY the Micronized form of this or any natural hormone so that the liver doesn’t need to process it. I urge everyone to look into this aspect before taking DHEA or the ‘real Mother hormone’ Pregnenolone. I usually take both I always have my blood levels tested 2x a year and I’m still a bit low. The first test in 1993 made the Doctor exclaim:”You have the levels of a 90 year old!” I was delighted when the hormones were later available over the counter in different dosages. There is another brand which sells many high quality supplements as well as micronized hormones — (not sure if I’m allowed to publish the site’s url but it’s easy to find. I’m glad to see that so many people are benefitting from DHEA — I can’t live without it & the Preg. is good insurance to allow your body to make full use of DHEA. If you’re really sick like I was do yourself a favor and research before purchasing and using. My CFS resurfaces when I run out of my DHEA — in a week my body is again crashing. I’m almost 71 & in much better health & appearance than most of my peers but I have to be diligent.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation is a non-invasivetreatment that involves passing an electromagnetic field through parts of the brain to modulate neural signaling. Although rTMS has been studied for several conditions, including major depression, schizophrenia, recovery in stroke, and CFS,144-146 the number of subjects in these studies was small. A case series in seven patients who underwent a 3-day course of rTMS reported that most of the patients experienced an improvement in fatigue.146 Another trial used rTMS in 22 patients with CFS, divided into two groupsâsevere and mildâand noted significant improvement in fatigue symptoms in both groups.147
In a study of 30 fibromyalgia patients comparing rTMS treatment to sham treatment, pain intensity was significantly reduced from day 5 to week 25 and long-term improvement in fatigue and sleep were noted in the treatment group.148 Similar results in pain improvement and quality of life were observed in another fibromyalgia study with treatment and placebo arms, using high frequency rTMS.149 Although more studies are needed to evaluate the efficacy of rTMS in CFS, it has been suggested this modality may be useful in conditions involving multiple types of difficult-to-treat pain.150

Bifidobacterium infantis 35624 modulates host inflammatory processes beyond the gut. Groger, D., Mahony, L, Murphy, E. et. al. Gut Microbes 4, 4, 1-15
Gut bacteria are a hot topic in medical circles right now, but few studies have assessed their impact on chronic fatigue syndrome . This Irish and Swiss study asked if inflammation was present in ME/CFS, and if it was, if a single gut bacteria could reduce it. The answers were yes, and yes.
The answers, with some provisos, were yes, and yes.

Bio Schwartz Advanced Strength Probiotic
Though Bio Schwartz includes a huge amount of bacteria the choices of which ones to include are a little odd.
The staple bacteria lactobacillus acidophilus is there, but the other three are less common and less well-researched bacteria. The supplement also includes fructooligosaccharides to support the growth of the bacteria, but it doesnt document how much it actually includes in the supplement.
How Can A Probiotic Supplement Help
When you take a probiotic supplement, it immediately adds billions of good bacteria to your gut. If these are the right strains, these then colonise the gut and, over time, crowd out and overcome the harmful bacteria.
In other words, a probiotic supplement restores the correct ratio of good to bad bacteria.
This then stabilises the barrier between the intestines and bloodstream essentially tightening up the loose junctions.
A probiotic supplement can also correctly balance the stomachs pH and create enzymes that destroy harmful bacteria.

Focus On Bifidobacterium Infantis
Bifidobacterium infantis 35624 is a commercial probiotic formula produced by Procter and Gamble. One of the few probiotic strains to undergo testing at the research level, numerous studies have examined B infantis effectiveness in irritable bowel syndrome and other disorders.
According to a probiotics websiteB. infantis strains produce much higher rates of thiamine, nicotinic acid and folic acid that other Bifidobacterium species.
B infantis administration for 8 weeks did not significantly alter gut microbiota in infants but did so in IBS patients . A large 2006 placebo controlled, double-blinded study, however, found that B. infantis was significantly more effective than placebo at improving gastrointestinal symptoms in IBS. A recent meta-analysis of probiotic studies in IBS suggest that probiotics can assist with symptoms in that disorder.
A quick drop in B. infantis levels after the supplementation stopped, however, suggested probiotic administration probably needs to be permanent. B. infantis improved gastrointestinal symptoms and reduced antibodies in celiac patients but did not affect intestinal permeability.
Dr Tobias Deep Immune Probiotics
The probiotic blend offered by Dr. Tobias includes five different types of bacteria which total to a bit under five billion colony-forming units.
The capsules are another major selling point Dr. Tobias claims that their capsules resist the digestion of the stomach acid, making it so that more bacteria make their way into the intestinal tract instead of being destroyed by stomach acid.

One Me/cfs Patients Probiotic Purchasing Primer
Not all probiotics are created equal and picking the right ones can be all important to seeing changes in your health. Here are some things I learned from my reading to look for when making a purchase of quality probiotics:
Modification Of Immunological Parameters Oxidative Stress Markers Mood Symptoms And Well
1Department of Internal Medicine and Therapeutics, Cellular Pathophysiology and Clinical immunology Laboratory, University of Pavia, 27100, Italy
2Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Pavia, 27100, Italy
3U.O: Neurology, A.S.S.T. San Leopoldo Mandic Hospital of Merate, 23807, Italy
Patients with CFS/ME exhibit an abnormal immune response to exercise, oxidative stress system dysfunction, and modification in the gene expression profile of immune cells . The increased expression of toll-like receptor 4 correlated with postexertional malaise, which is the main feature of ME/CFS, suggests the existence of an impaired interaction between these immune receptors and pathogenic or xenobiotic agents .
2. Materials and Methods
2.1. Study Population
Patients with CFS/ME diagnosis according to Fukudas criteria referred to the clinic of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics ASP-IDR Santa Margherita who gave their consent to participate in the trial were enrolled for the study. The exclusion criteria were as follows: lack of consent, overlap with other diseases, early diagnosis of psychiatric illness, somatoform disorders, abuse of alcohol and drugs, antibiotic therapy, and presence of risk factors for probiotic sepsis according to Boyles criteria .
Probiotic mixture was selected in relation to the literature data in order to positively interfere in clinical history of CFS/ME.

Which Comes First The Chicken Or The Egg
It is important to note that correlation of a specific psychiatric illness with species of gut bacteria does not necessarily mean that the abnormal gut caused the condition. As was already mentioned, the relationship between the gut and the brain is multidirectional. While pathogenic gut bacteria could certainly be a direct, standalone cause of certain psychiatric disorders among a subset of individuals it may have not been a causative factor for others.
For some individuals, it may be that gut dysbiosis is a causative factor in the pathogenesis of a particular condition, but it may only contribute to a small extent. For example, someone with schizophrenia may have developed the condition in part because of pathogenic bacteria in the gut, but these bacteria may have only played tiny role in the disease onset. Therefore, it is important to avoid assuming that simply fixing the gut is some utopian treatment or preventative intervention.
To briefly summarize, gut bacteria may be: more of a symptom or byproduct of a condition , a 100% direct cause, or a partial cause of varying weightedness depending on the individual. Consider that all three aforestated possibilities may occur rather than assuming one is the absolute, definitive explanation. That said, regardless of whether the chicken or egg came first, evidence does suggest that fixing the gut may improve neurophysiological function.
Did Probiotics Cure My Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
by Carol Wolf | Jan 7, 2016 | Gut, Homepage, Treatment |
Thanks to Carol for allowing Health Rising to post her startling recovery story. Please note that were at the very early stages of understanding how probiotics may help people with chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia. The trillions of bacteria present in the guts of the very heterogeneous ME/CFS and FM communities present much opportunity for variability. Warning: while Carol did very well taking large numbers of probiotics some people with ME/CFS/FM can be sensitive to even small amounts of probiotics.

The Benefits Of Probiotics In The Context Of Chronic Fatigue
I want to be perfectly clear that the use of probiotics will not cure your chronic fatigue syndrome. There is no evidence saying probiotics are a solution to CFS. But that doesnt mean probiotics supplements are useless. In fact, theres a lot of research to support the symptomatic benefits probiotics provide to those with chronic fatigue syndrome.
At the time of this writing, probiotics have been shown to benefit those with CFS by:
- Improving the number of good bacteria in your gut.
- Helping decrease the symptoms of leaky gut.
- Improving the IBS-like symptoms commonly associated with chronic fatigue syndrome.
- Improving anxiety levels in those with CFS.
- Improving your mood and emotional well-being.
This list is by no means comprehensive. Yet it clearly illustrates the benefit taking a probiotic supplement has on chronic fatigue syndrome. No, it wont cure your fatigue. But it could improve a lot of your symptoms! All from the simple act of swallowing a pill. Now, lets dig into how probiotics improve these symptoms!
